It all started when cruise liner crashed into Vard VIII, with no communications left undamaged the survivors were stranded. One of the passengers a young Brutor named Varraka Uhraka was covered with Drop that leaked into his chamber during the crash landing. Shortly after he killed all the remaining survivors except for a young female Vherokior named X3S whom he spared. Living in the ruins of the ship, they survived off eating the bodys of the dead. One day Varraka saw smoke coming from a nearby mountain, he ventured out to discover the source. What he found was a cave filled with smoke, the smoke smelled funny and made him very hungry. The source of the smoke was a giant automated machine, it appeared to be harvest a plant and turn it into smoke. The smoke was placed in a massive storage tank and appeared to be leaking due to being overfilled. He discovered the remains of humans, and they seem to have died of old age. The humans who lived there had many books and living quarters beside the machine. After reading the books left behind he, learned that the machine was called the Syiod. The two minmatar survivors lived on the planet for years with no contact with the outside universe. The two devolped a strong freindship and swore to always protect each other. One day, a ship appeared to harvest the scrap that was the cruise liner, the two made decided not to tell the visitors the location of the Syiod. The scavangers where surprised to find 2 minmatar surviors appear at the crash site, for there had been no sign of any of the bodies of the other passengers. The two split up and rejoined their families, never mention the fact that they stayed alive by eating the corpses of the dead. After graduating university, X3S was convicted of cannibilizing a fellow university student whom she had murdered after being ripped off for some X-Instinct. After being sentanced to a life in prison, she was on her way to a life of solitude when Varraka managed to hijack the transport. He freed X3S and all the other prisoners on board and then flew the transport to Vard. Upon arriving at the local station, they sold the transport for isk and used the money to start a corporation. Varraka and X3S told their new companions of the Syoid and its mystical smoke and after a vote decided to name the corp after the magical machine.
